Meteors=great ideas at Midnight?

Last night was a very uneventful evening until after I went to bed. Laying there listening to my husband snore (which he doesn't do often) I could not sleep. I finally got some noise control and was trying to sleep when what to my wondering eyes should appear? A giant meteor streaked across our sky and lit my bedroom up like it was daytime for about 4-5 seconds. At the time I didn't realize it was a meteor, but I knew it was odd. I found out this morning what had created this bright light.

By the way, my husband did not wake up from this, so I was the only witness at my house. Other people in the city saw it and recorded it too. (What were they doing up at midnight video taping the night sky???)

I have been toying with an idea for a quilt for each of my girls for Christmas. I got a great Layer Cake from Kaufman at Sample Spree in Houston. It is their new Girls Scouts fabric line. It is too cute! My idea just was not quite right though. I could not get started on it.

But last might I had an a-ha moment after the meteor sped by!

Now I can't wait to get started on the quilts--it might become one of my new patterns!

Gotta go sew--it has been too long!

Tonsil - ICK- to - me

Actually it is a Tonsillectomy, but I am pretty sure Tonsil-ICK-to- me is how my 7 year old will feel about it tomorrow.

She goes in at 6 AM for the procedure and yes I am still up at 11PM the night before. I can't sleep. Too worried, though I know it will do no good to worry. I know she will be fine. That's what everyone says. But she's my baby, and has never had surgery and I am her mommy who can't help but worry. Her big sis is being a big help trying to tell her how easy it is- this coming from the one who whined for 2 weeks straight about how much pain she was in.

How soon we forget. I have not forgotten. My Tonsil-ICK-to- me was on July 1st of this year and at 37 it is no bowl of cherries, no carnival ride or any such thing. It was ICK! I can't wait for it to all be over for her....

That's my news- nothing fun or quilty sorry! Just had to moan a bit about my mommy worries.

Until next time....Do some fun quilty things!

Cindy Lou Who Schnibble Quilt

I got my Cindy Lou Who Schnibbles quilt top done this month and here is a photo of it.
Okay, not the best photography I admit. It's Halloween and the quality of my photo was not as high on the list as carving pumpkins.

I decided to join this little club for a couple of reasons.
1. I really like almost all of Carrie Nelson's Schnibbles patterns
2. I own MANY of them already and have never made them yet
AND
3. I thought it might encourage me to get some of these little projects done this year. I spend so much time sewing and quilting projects for my patterns that I forget to do things just for fun sometimes too.

So that is really 3 reasons, but they are all good ones I think!

I used a Valentine group from Moda, called Candy Kisses. I got this last year and loved it, but never used it.

Signs-ups for the group "A year of Schnibble's" are closed, but I hope you enjoy seeing what I make each month for it, and check out the button on my sidebar on the 1st of each month to see what everyone else makes too! It's very inspiring!

P.S. I didn't get the one done for September because I could not get find the Winter White pattern in stock until late in the month. I may still try and do this one, just so I can get all 12 done! Stay tuned!

Quilt Bloggers Festival

For all of you bloggers who love to quilt, this is the thing for you!
my pal Amy aka ParkCityGirl has created this festival including organizing the sponsors who are giving away goodies! There are no gimmicks, she just wants to get all of us quilty girls and guys together enjoying each others inspiring works!.

The fun begins on October 9th--same day as Market classes begin in Houston. That's where I will be, but have fun until I get back! All you have to do is post a photo of a quilt you have made or are working on and it's story, if there is one. There will be giveaways galore, or so I am told--so it should be fun. She had one in the spring too and it was wildly popular.
